Description

Jaeger-LeCoultre Atmos 150th Anniversary Clock in gilt brass Ref# 600103, number 0393, circa 1983. Atmos patented caliber 14-jewel 540 movement. White pierced centerfield dial with painted Roman numerals. Movement is supported by 2 columns extended from a gilt brass circular base leveled by three adjustable feet. Handmade dome glass cover and original suede textured hard case. Base diameter 215 mm and height 330 mm (including dome glass.)

This special clock runs on air pressure and is known as a mechanical torsion pendulum clock. A special bellows system moves with the difference in atmospheric pressure and room temperature. That change in pressure is caught in the bellows and the stored power is used to run the clock. It’s the closest thing to perpetual motion that has ever been built and requires very little intervention or winding if at all. Perfect condition.
