Description
Gents highly desirable Patek Philippe First Series 3-Dot Nautilus in stainless steel Ref# 3712/1A. On the original stainless steel bracelet with a flip-lock double deployant buckle. Rounded octagonal bezel with brushed top and polished sides. Sapphire crystal. Sapphire display caseback. The case diameter is 42 mm. Self-winding movement with date, sub-seconds, moon phase, and power reserve indicator. Blue dial with applied framed luminescent filled hour markers and luminescent filled hands. With box, booklets, wallet, hangtag, pusher, and papers dated 2005. This example is unpolished in Very Good condition.
Not to be confused with the 5712 the 3712 is the precursor to the 5712. With a short production run between 2005 and 2006. The 3712 was released in two series. The first series displays 3 red dots in the power reserve indicator. The second series displays 4 red dots in the power reserve indicator. The 3712 case features the original case design as submitted by Gerald Genta. The case is also slightly smaller than the 5712.
There are other differences worth noting. The 3712 has a smaller crown than the 5712. The 3712 has a smaller moonphase/date window. Since the 5712 has a larger moon phase/date window we notice the 3712 has a slightly smaller font within the date wheel, the 3712 has a tiny hour marker for the 7, on the 3712 the marker for the 6 is a complete rectangle, the space between the two subdials is larger. The differences go on in detail, lug sharpness, the blue dial is a bit different in hue, the dates from 9 through 21 are inverted, the bracelet of the 3712 is more tapered, differences in the movement, and more.
